I’m Carlos Prados, a Telecommunications Engineer with 25+ years of experience at the intersection of architecture, execution, and the business decisions that constrain both. I’m a hands-on CTO and co-founder who still writes core production code — because the person who sets the architecture should feel its friction every day.
Today I wear three hats in parallel. I’m CTO, board member and Innovation Lead at Amplía Soluciones, where I own the technical strategy behind our IIoT platforms for utilities, industry and telecom — the architecture, the roadmap, and the engineering organisation that ships it. I’m also co-founder of de Prados y Bodega, whose technology arm is enredando.me, alongside a small portfolio of other ventures. And, selectively, I work as a technical advisor to CTOs, boards and investors — only on things I can actually operate on.
Most of my week goes on technical direction: the architecture calls that are expensive to reverse, the ones that can wait, and growing engineers who make both without me. The rest goes on the commercial side of the same problem — pricing, partners, and deciding which research is worth turning into a product. In code that means Go and Python, over a deep ecosystem of Java and JavaScript. Lately I’m obsessed with agentic AI: autonomous, distributed agents built with MCP and RAG, and the unglamorous work of making them survive contact with a customer. I also lead EU and Spanish R&D innovation programs at Amplía.
